One of six roundtable discussions featured at the NH Food Alliance's 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering, the "Support Local Farm, Fish, and Food Businesses" roundtable showcased how our food system continues to support local food enterprises and improve New Hampshire’s food system through various innovations and initiatives.
Facilitated by Lynda Brushett of the Cooperative Development Institute and Jessica Gorhan, formerly of the Greater Nashua Food Council and Gorhan Consulting, and currently of NH Hunger Solutions, roundtable attendees heard presentations on the NH Ag Viability Network from Seth Wilner, an Agricultural Business Management Field Specialist for UNH Extension, and on the NH Food Hub Network, a grant-funded program facilitated by the NH Food Alliance. Following the presentations, roundtable attendees participated in a Q&A and discussed the small family farm paradigm, cooperative/shared ownership models, developing farms in a systemic way through federal and state policies, and focusing on how to provide farmers business skills.
