Advancing Racial Equity in the New Hampshire Food System

On May 6, the NH Food Alliance (NHFA) hosted "Learn and Reflect: Advancing Racial Equity in the New Hampshire Food System," as part of its 2022 Network Cafe Series. Building on momentum from Food Solutions New England's 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge, our May Network Café was designed to explore how the Challenge’s call to “Learn, Think, and Act” is inspiring the advancement of racial equity and food justice in New Hampshire. We had a conversation and heard insights, challenges, and strategies for promoting a just, sustainable, and vibrant food system in our state. We also identified existing and emerging opportunities for personal and professional actions that support a food system that engages with and nourishes all of New Hampshire residents.

Please view a recording of this Network Cafe below! And feel free to follow along with the agenda here. Also below are few resource links shared during the cafe.

Our 2022 Network Cafe Series will be on a hiatus for June, July, and August. We will reconvene on the first Friday in September with a TBA topic!

Join Jennifer Wilhelm and Olivia Saunders as they provide a brief report on the findings from the NH Food System Racial Equity Assessment, completed this spring. The assessment breaks down data from the nationally reported Agriculture Statistics, has identified where funding dollars have been spent, takes a look into agricultural leadership, as well as how food and agriculture-based organizations are addressing racial equity within their organizations. The framework for this project was developed by Michigan State University, Center for Regional Food Systems, using the toolkit: Measuring Racial Equity in the Food System: Established and Suggested MetricsJoin us for a discussion of these findings.
