Cookbook via the Marine Stewardship Council

Co-op Food Stores plugged one of their favorite new seafood resources—the Ocean Cookbook 2022. Praised by Civil Eats and food writers, chefs, and activists everywhere, the Ocean Cookbook is a free online publication offered by the Marine Stewardship Council.

Why do we need another seafood cookbook and what makes this one special? One word: sustainability. According to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), seafood consumption is expected to double by 2050, an explosive level of growth outpacing all other animal proteins. The West's voracious appetite for fine seafood harvested at all costs drives much of the demand, endangering the health of fragile fisheries worldwide.

Each of the recipes in the Ocean Cookbook was created to highlight unique and sustainable seafood options. The recipes are relatively simple and easy to make, and each includes information about the featured fish as well as workable substitutions. More than anything, we like that it promotes the need for protecting our oceans and the teeming life within them. READ MORE HERE
