NH Farm to School has received word about two grant awards that will support farm to school work and local agriculture across New Hampshire. Read more about each below!
Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program
New Hampshire has been awarded $568,000 through the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program, part of the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service. The funds were awarded through the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food and will be provided to our state's most in need schools to purchase New Hampshire grown and raised foods from local farms and food hubs. Local Food Promotion Program
NH Farm to School has been awarded a grant part of the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service's Local Food Promotion Program. Entitled "Multiple Pathways to Achieve Farm to Institution Goals in New Hampshire," the grant activities aim to increase food production and institutional purchasing by investing in projects that will continue to build institutional demand for local foods, while supporting farmers with the structures and services necessary to reach institutional markets. The three grant project objectives are:
1. Develop, market, and distribute value added products for the institutional market
2. Increase availability of local food products on institutional menus through expansion of Harvest of the Month (HoM) and school buying group bids
3. Build institutional procurement relationships with farmers and food hubs
NH Farm to School plans to leverage several opportunities, including working closely with the NH Food Hub Network, the Seacoast School Buying Group, and two New Hampshire businesses interested in value added product development. Stay tuned for more details and project updates in 2023!
