FINE is supporting Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County's Marine Program (CCE) in a region-wide effort to increase monkfish domestic demand through product development and audience expansion. Monkfish is an affordable, tasty, local, and sustainable seafood option; however, this fish remains underutilized in the U.S. and CCE and partners hope to change that! CCE is surveying commercial fishermen, seafood dealers, seafood processors, and consumers throughout the region to learn more about the monkfish industry and consumer awareness levels as well as identify potential marketing opportunities.
