Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network's 2022-23 Grant Roundup


Below are a variety of grant opportunities for meat and poultry producers:

National: Through the Food Supply Chain Guaranteed Loan Program, USDA will partner with lenders to guarantee loans of up to $40 million to help eligible entities expand meat and poultry processing capacity and finance other food supply chain infrastructure. Lenders may provide the loans to eligible cooperatives, corporations, for profits, nonprofits, Tribal communities, public bodies and people in rural and urban areas.

National: U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced availability of $200 million under the new Meat and Poultry Intermediary Lending Program, also known as MPILP. In a nutshell: USDA will provide grants of up to $15 million to nonprofit lenders, including tribal entities, cooperatives and public agencies. These loans can be used to acquire land, build or expand infrastructure, or purchase equipment. When the loan is paid back, it can be used to make additional loans.

National: USDA NIFA Invests $25M in Meat and Poultry Agriculture Workforce Trainingto provide a pipeline of well-trained workers to meet the increased regional and local demands for processing capacity. At least $20 million will be dedicated to qualified community colleges in support of meat processing workforce development programs.

Total funding available for this opportunity includes $250,000,000 with an average award amount of $500,000 – $20,000,000 for awarded applications.
