One of six roundtable discussions featured at the NH Food Alliance's 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering, the "Improve Food Security and Local Food Access" roundtable presented on emerging models that increase access to local and healthy food and how collaboration, communication, and policy transformation are key for creating more equitable food access in New Hampshire.
Facilitated by Heidi Barker of UNH Extension's Nutrition Connections and Erin Hardie Hale of the NH Food Alliance, roundtable attendees heard presentations from Lauren Griswold of VT Everyone Eats about expanding the program to New Hampshire, Eileen Liponis of the NH Food Bank about NH Feeding NH, and Sara Oberle and Brooke Kelleher of UNH Extension's Nutrition Connections about the NH Food Access Map and the NH Farm Products Map. Following the presentations, the facilitators held a Q&A for the presenters and the roundtable attendees, ending with the following call to action: stay informed and build capacity as advocates and join the NH Food Access Coalition; engage youth and people with lived experience in food access and insecurity efforts; create a movement of eaters to build a more just, sustainable, resilient food system.
