Application eligibility:
Site: The property to be made subject to the Easement must be located in the State of New Hampshire and must be in, or suitable for, active agricultural use.

Applicant: A municipality or other political subdivision of the state of New Hampshire, or a publicly supported non-profit corporation exempt from federal income taxation under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code proposing to acquire and hold an agricultural land preservation easement through the Program and which has among its purposes the perpetual preservation of land and water resources, and the capacity, in the sole discretion of the Committee, to uphold the proposed Easement.

Summary: Agricultural Land Preservation grants will be available to assist municipalities and non-profit land trusts who are working to preserve active farmland for future agricultural production through easements. The NH Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food will administer the grant funds through a competitive grant process to assist eligible entities, including land trusts and municipalities, in preserving New Hampshire’s farmland through the acquisition of agricultural land preservation easements.
