Intended applicants: 

  • Must be a School/Institution currently participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and/or School Breakfast Program (SBP) in NH.
    • Multiple schools in the same LEA/District may apply – separate applications must be submitted for each school/site.
    • Charter schools participating in NSLP/SBP under an LEA/District Sponsor must have the Sponsor complete the application. (Sponsoring LEA/District will be responsible for managing grant funds).
  • Schools do not need to have existing school gardens to submit a proposal.
  • Priority will be given to a School/Institution that has not been previously awarded the Farm to School (F2S) Garden Grant.

Summary: The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) will issue competitive grants to Eligible NH School Food Authorities (SFA) and Reporting Authorities (RA) for financing the implementation and/or expansion of school gardens and increased Farm to School efforts.

Applications must include:

  • Incorporate school garden growth in school meals and/or snack programs.
  • Student educational opportunities - Grant application must speak to educational opportunities.
  • Student enrollment and involvement - Grant application must quantify student involvement and/or speak to student involvement in grant activities.
  • Garden timeline - Application includes detailed timeline for all grant activities.
