Summary: NOFA-NH invites NH farmers to apply for our new Organic Transition Fund mini-grants! Building on our Farmer Relief Fund in 2023, NOFA-NH has received a grant from the You Have Our Trust Fund to launch a pro-active fund to provide mini-grants to help organic and transitioning-to-organic farmers build resilience to mitigate the effects of climate change.
These mini-grants can pay for expenses associated with implementing healthy soil and on-farm practices to build climate resilience, including but not limited to: new supplies and equipment, soil tests, insect prevention measures, cost share for organic NRCS practices, etc. Mini-grants can also fund new and innovative projects that leverage organic practices to build on-farm climate resilience.
Certified organic farmers can apply for reimbursement for a portion of their certification costs from the transfer of their organic certification to another Accredited Certifying Agent (ACA) in 2024, provided the operation has also applied for the federal Cost-Share Program through FSA.
Small-scale certified organic farmers with a gross income of less than $25,000 in 2023 seeking reimbursement for some of their 2024 organic certification costs, provided the operation has also applied for the federal Cost-Share Program through FSA.
The Organic Transition Fund also supports any NH farms in need of emergency/disaster relief (examples: crop or livestock losses, freeze, flooding, fire, or other damages). Any NH famers can apply for a mini-grant to help with losses they have experienced or expenses associated with repairing environmental, land, building and/or equipment damage.
